Ouch!!

I called my Neighbor to see if I could borrow a small sauce pan for some frosting I was making tonight, for Paisley's 2nd test-run birthday cake. She told me she had it in her hand and would bring it right over. I went down and opened up the door to wait for her. While I was standing by the front door, Paisley was standing at the top of the stairs holding onto the railing (the gate was up by the way) anyway, her hand slipped and she smacked her little face right on the railing. I watched it happen in slow motion and couldn't get up the stairs fast enough to comfort her as she was sobbing on the carpet. Uugghh, I felt like the worst Mom in the world. She has a little mark above her right eye, but she's going to be ok. I thought for sure she would have a big black bruise. She screamed until she had her binky, and then she was fine. What a tough little girl. And on top of that, she's had a really bad diaper rash the past couple of days. Her little bum has been so red and sore, I feel so bad when I have to change her diaper.
I know these are just the beginning of many, many injuries and ouchies, and I don't know if I'm ready for more.

You can't protect your kids from every bump and bruise, especially at that age. It seems like from age 1 to age 2 my kids always had goose eggs and bruises on their foreheads from all the falls they make while learning how to walk. Kids are tougher than they look. So don't be so hard on yourself!
