Chase's birthday is August 26th. Back in April I noticed that Nickleback, one of Chase's favorite bands, was coming in concert, on August 26th. Since they were coming on his birthday I knew we had to go. Skyler and Meghann wanted to go too. Performing at the concert would be Papa Roach, Hinder, Saving Abel and Nickleback. Me and my naive little self didn't think it would be "that bad" of a concert. Well we were running late cause of traffic so we missed the first performance, Saving Abel, but we were ok with that cause we don't know who they are anyway. We had lawn seats so we found a spot we thought would be great to sit and watch the concert. Once we got situated, Papa Roach came out to perform. Let me just say that I have never heard the "F" word more in my entire life than I did just during their performance. I felt terrible. I was pretty disappointed. Then Hinder came out and they were just as bad. We decided that Nickleback wouldn't be like that because they don't swear in their songs. We were wrong. They swore and talked so dirty throughout the entire show. Not to mention Chad Kroeger, the lead singer, sat up there and drank a bottle of Jack Daniels and shared it with the audience. It was not a very good experience. We had fun dancing and singing during the songs we knew, but for the most part, it was a waste of money, which is unfortunate. AND THEN... see, all the people drink during the whole concert and then they get in their cars and drive home, drunk. As we left, I had us take a not so busy road to stay away from the traffic. We had a kid in front of us driving a Beretta. We were on a two lane road, approaching a train track with a cement barricade. All the sudden this car drifts over into the oncoming lane, thankfully there weren't any cars coming, and he speeds up, slams his car into the barricade, runs over it and drifts back into our lane coming to a stop on the side of the road. I was freaking out telling Chase we need to call the cops cause this guy is drunk. We never did call the cops, but we were on the lookout for other drunk drivers the whole way home.

Going to this concert wasn't a good choice and you can bet that I won't be going to another rock concert as long as I live. I did learn something from all of this. The world will tell you that freedom is found in drugs, alcohol, immorality, immodesty, foul language, etc. But the truth of the matter is, the gospel of Jesus Christ is where you find freedom. I am so thankful to have the gospel in my life. I can't imagine my life without it!

Sorry it was so disappointing...I know you were excited to do that for Chase. Ya live and ya learn, I guess.
